Meewasin Celebrates 40 Years with a Gala!
Meewasin is thrilled to continue celebrations for the momentous occasion of ringing in 40 years. Meewasin’s 40th Anniversary Gala will be held on October 22nd, 2019 at the Delta Hotels by Marriot Saskatoon, and will not only showcase the great work done in our community, but will also feature a silent auction, dinner, live art gallery & musical entertainment.
Forty years ago, the South Saskatchewan River Valley was an unfinished canvas waiting for the artist to complete the painting. Much of the present landscape was created through the influence and oversight of the Meewasin Valley Authority, an expert and leader in conservation of natural assets and cultural histories of the land. Meewasin continues to provide stewardship to the Meewasin Valley to ensure a healthy and vibrant river valley.
Meewasin has successfully enabled the valley to flourish with a balance of conserved and developed land, as outlined in the 100-year Conceptual Master Plan produced by Raymond Moriyama in 1978.
CEO Andrea Lafond shared an exciting update on the event, “We are so honoured to be able to include a message from Raymond Moriyama, who was instrumental in creating the 100-year vision for the Meewasin Valley, at our upcoming gala. His passion and foresight are what allowed the Meewasin Valley to become a focal point of our city.”
Over the past 40 years, hundreds of staff and thousands of volunteers have been working to ensure the Meewasin Valley remains a vibrant, welcoming place that enhances the quality of life for people within Saskatchewan and thousands of visitors each year. With this evening, we would like to thank the many supporters of Meewasin. Meewasin wants to recognize the wonderful work that has been done and share our vision for the future.
Less than a month away, the early bird ticket deadline for the gala is approaching soon! Get your tickets now at meewasin40.eventbrite.ca/.
