Senior Landscape Architectural Technologist

1.        Coordinates the construction of Parks landscape design elements with contractors, completing site inspections for         landscape construction including but not limited to irrigation, drainage, paving and storm sewer.

2.        Provides contract administration, including the preparation of project inspection reports and verification of construction quantities.

3.        Communicates regularly with internal staff, contractors, engineers, other government and regulatory agencies and the public as required to schedule and coordinate work.

4.        Develops irrigation and drainage designs, in conjunction with other staff and consultants.

5.        Performs design and AutoCAD drafting services for a variety of landscape development projects.

6.        Assists with project planning, budgeting and costing.

7.        Coordinates with other departments to resolve issues related to safety concerns and small parks projects e.g. drainage, irrigation, and asphalt

8.        Collaborates with team members and prepares tender documents.

9.        Monitors construction costs and updates department cost estimates annually.

10.    Assists with the maintenance and revision of construction specifications, drawings and standards.

11.    Assists with the maintenance of accurate shop drawings and other project records.

12.    Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s Administrative Occupational Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures.

13.    Assists with general office duties.

14.    Performs other related duties as assigned.


·        Graduation from a recognized two-year, post-secondary drafting technology program, engineering technology or landscape architectural technology program.

·        Possession of, or eligibility for, Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologist and Technicians certification as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.)

·        Three years’ related experience, including inspection and project management experience.

·        Possession of a valid first aid certificate.

·        Possession of a valid, Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License.

·        Knowledgeable of materials and methods used in landscape construction, including irrigation, paving and storm sewer construction.

·        Knowledge of materials and methods used in Landscape design and construction.

·        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers, external organizations, civic staff and the public.

·        Skill in the operation of a computer with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.

·        Ability to establish and enforce work standards including safe conduct on the job.

·        Physical ability to perform the assigned duties, including outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
