Membership Categories

To be considered for FULL MEMBERSHIP to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects the applicant shall:

A. Hold a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Degree from a school of landscape architecture approved by the SALA Council and has worked for at least three (3) years, after graduation, under; the direction of a person or persons approved by council or:

B. Hold both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Deqree in Landscape Architecture from a school of landscape architecture approved by the SALA Council and has worked for at least two (2) years either between the two degrees or after the Master’s degree, under the direction of a person or persons approved by Council or:

C. Hold a Master of Landscape Architecture Degree from a school of landscape architecture approved by the SALA Council and has worked for at least three (3) years post education* under the direction of a person or persons approved by the SALA Council or:

D. Have a combination of post-secondary and work experience, both related to landscape architecture, totaling a minimum of ten (10) years. Work experience must be under the direction of a person or persons approved by the Examining Board and;

E. Has submitted in support of the Applicant for Membership, a letter of endorsement from two (2) members (full/registered) in good standing of the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects or Canadian Society of Landscape Architects/AAPC, and:

F. Has been interviewed by the Council or such members thereof as may be designated from time to time to carry out such interviews, and has produced evidence satisfactory to the Council of identification and qualifications, or:

G. Is a full registered member in good standing of a C.S.L.A. Component Association or other body of landscape architects approved by the SALA Council and provides evidence satisfactory to the Council of such standing.

*** Post education experience (see note C) may not necessarily mean post graduation experience in all instances where a graduate degree is involved. These cases will be reviewed on an individual basis.***

To be considered for FULL (Out of Province***) MEMBERSHIP to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects the applicant shall:

A. Be a full registered member in good standing of a C.S.L.A. Component Association and provides evidence satisfactory to the Council of such standing.

***Out of Province Members refers to a member who belongs to another provincial association of landscape architects which levies membership dues for the CSLA/AAPC. SALA dues will be based on the difference between the current Full Member dues and the current CSLA/AAPC levy.***

To be considered for ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects the applicant shall:

A. Have graduated from a school of landscape architecture but has not yet attained sufficient practical experience in post-education practice to qualify as a Member; and:

B. Has submitted in support of the application a letter of endorsement from one member in good standing of the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects or C.S.L.A. or:

C. Is a comparable associate member in good standing of a C.S.L.A. Component Association or other body of landscape architects approved by the SALA Council and provides evidence satisfactory to the Council of such standing.

To be considered for AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects the applicant shall:

A. Be associated with the field of Landscape Architecture or the allied design professions including the environmental disciplines; contributed to the profession of Landscape Architecture or its appreciation; and be willing to support its further advancement; and:

B. Submit in support of the Application for Membership, a letter of endorsement from one (Full/Registered) Member in good standing of the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects.

To be considered for STUDENT MEMBERSHIP to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects the applicant shall:

A. Be enrolled in a recognized program in Landscape Architecture and provides Council with evidence satisfactory to it of such enrolment.

To be considered INACTIVE to the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects the applicant shall be granted by SALA Council on application to it and upon payment of dues, if any as prescribed by SALA Council, if the applicant:

  • is a registered member in good standing of the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects; and
  • has submitted a letter indicating their individual circumstances in support of the application.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP in the association (Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects) may be granted by SALA Council, from time to time, to members who have performed notable service in advancing the profession of landscape architecture.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP in the association may be granted by SALA Council from time to time to distinguished members of the community who have performed notable service in advancing the profession of landscape architecture. A person may be nominated for honorary membership by a member of the association, and upon ratification by a vote of two-thirds of SALA Council.

THE FRIENDS OF SALA program for the Saskatchewan Association of Landscape Architects is an initiative to enhance relationships with industry suppliers.
