SALA Academic & 30th Anniversary Awards

The SALA Academic Award is an annual award provided to assist Saskatchewan students registered in an accredited or recognized bachelor or master of landscape architecture program anywhere in the world. SALA would like to congratulate Rebecca Anderson in receiving this years award. Rebecca is completing here second year of an MLA at the University of British Columbia.   Her undergraduate degree is a BA Honours (Geography) from the University of Saskatchewan where she had the highest GPA in her graduating class. Rebecca is also the UBC Landscape Architecture Student Association President.   In the past she has been heavily involved in her community especially projects relating to sustainability.

To celebrate our milestone year we added a 30th Anniversary Award for this year only, in the amount of the original $350 given out 30 years ago.  The original intent of the award was to encourage and help fund the education of Saskatchewan landscape architecture students who have to leave the province for schooling.  SALA would like to congratulate Kathryn McCudden in receiving the 30th Anniversary award. She is in her first year of a MLA from the University of Manitoba. She has an undergraduate degree BA Honours (Philosophy) from the University of Regina with outstanding marks. Kathryn has lived for periods abroad including living in Japan for 2 years as an assistant language teacher. One of the highlights of her resume was the development of a Scholarship Fund in Japan.  She was a founding member of the scholarship and the first acting chairwoman of the HJSF committee.
